2008 Patriots Day Freedom Rally and Protest Ride
On April 19, 2008, the 233rd anniversary of "the shot heard 'round the world" in Lexington, patriots gathered at the Wake County Speedway, and planned the helmet law protest ride to the NC state capital. If you look closely, one of the patriots is dressed in costume as a continental army regular with Tri-Corner Helmet. More reinforcements kept arriving, so by the time we saddled up, the count was 72 riders, many of whom rode lidless under OLD GLORY and a Gadsden-yellow protest banner "HELMET LAW PROTEST". Simultaneous protests took place in NC and elsewhere in the USA.
